Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
1. Overview
SnapCal ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI-powered food nutrition analysis tool. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our service, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information We Collect
- Food photos — when you choose to analyze a meal, the image is temporarily processed in real time to return nutrition estimates.
- Device identifier (device_id) — a random UUID generated and stored in your browser's localStorage, used to enforce the daily free scan limit and to link your purchase to your device.
- Email address — collected only when you purchase a Pro plan (processed by our payment provider, Creem) or when you voluntarily enter it to restore access on another device.
- Usage data — anonymous analytics such as page visits and scan counts, used to operate and improve the service.
We do not require you to create an account to use the free tier, and we never collect your name or phone number.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To analyze food photos and return estimated calorie and macronutrient values.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.
- To improve the accuracy of our AI models (anonymized).
4. AI Processing & Data Retention
Food photos are processed by our AI model in real time solely to generate nutrition estimates. Uploaded images are never stored on our servers — they are discarded immediately after analysis is complete. We retain only your device_id, scan quota counters, and (for Pro users) your email and subscription expiry date.
5. Third-Party Services
We use Cloudflare to host and serve our application. Cloudflare may process request data in accordance with its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
6. Important Medical Disclaimer
The calorie and macronutrient values returned by SnapCal are AI-generated estimates only. They are provided for general informational purposes and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider or registered dietitian before making dietary decisions, especially if you have a medical condition, allergy, or specific nutritional requirement.
7. Your Choices
You may stop using the service at any time. Because we do not require an account, there is no personal data to delete on your behalf. If you believe we have retained information about you, contact us and we will remove it.
